Nearly a hundred years ago, Orlando's transition of a young man into a woman was the literary fiction of Virginia Woolf. Today, it is the story of many. "Who are the contemporary Orlandos?" asks French director Paul Preciado. Each Orlando is on their own journey, but not alone: 25 different people play Woolf's fictional character while narrating their own lives. Orlando, My Political Biography won the Audience Award at Bildrausch Filmfest 2023, enriching how we might think and talk about gender in the future with illustrious ideas. The screening on October 6 will take place in the presence of contributors from the film as part of the 16th Luststreifen Film Festival Basel (October 5-8), in cooperation with Bildrausch Filmfest Basel.
