Bodies of Desire
Varsha Panikar, Saad Nawab, India 2020, 4′ (English/EN)

Using Varsha Panikar’s poetry series by the same name, as the point of departure, Bodies of Desire, is a visual poetry film co-directed by her and Saad Nawab. The film captures four sets of lovers amid passion; to create a portrait of tender intimacy, of longing, of discovery, of desire, of embrace and care, of profound companionship. It is a sensual celebration of genderless love and desire, inspired by the poet’s lived reality.

We are witnessing a battle, a fight between Gender Equality and the Patriarchal Paradigm. Women clamor for their rights and flag brave feminist movements towards equality. Now, what role do men have here? Are they going to be active or passive in this revolution? ABSOLUTION is a visual poem, a reflection on masculinity, its topics and customs. It’s a metaphorically woven speech that uses coloquial language and an experimental artistic iconography.

Danny, a Czech student, and his Spanish boyfriend go on a trip to the Czech countryside. At the railway station they meet a couple of locals who do not know Danny understands them, so they start to make sarcastic comments. It does not take long until this situation generates a conflict, the outcome of which is devastating for both couples.

The Old Man and the Bucket

After his wife’s death and his son’s emigration to England loneliness has made the former shoemaker Mr. Wojcik (75) become a misanthrope. When the first international queer café opens in front of his window, Mr. Wojcik considers himself to be the «defender» of Poland. The story of an encounter between a homophobe and a transvestite overcoming fears and prejudices towards the unknown.
