Futur Drei – sold out!
Drama / 92′
Faraz Shariat, Deutschland 2020
Parvis grows up as a child of the millenial generation in the comfortable prosperity of his Iranian immigrant parents. He tries to escape the provincial life in Hildesheim through pop culture, grindr-dates and raves. After shoplifting he does community service as a translator in a shelter for refugees. There he meets the Iranian siblings Banafshe and Amon. A fragile three-way relationship develops between them, increasingly marked by the awareness that their future in Germany is unequal.
In his autobiographical directorial debut, Faraz Shariat, born in 1994, tells an authentic and at the same time miraculously exaggerated story of the queer adolescence of an immigrant son in Germany – and thus provides a resolute counter-draft to conventional German cinema, in which post-migrant experiences and stories of immigrants and their families are all too often excluded or misrepresented. At the Berlinale, where the film celebrated its world premiere in the Panorama, “Futur Drei” was honored with two teddy bears («Best Feature Film» & «Readers’ Prize»).
